Using TINCheck

How current are the TINCheck results?

TINCheck constantly monitors, updates, and maintains connections to the source systems (IRS, SSA, Department of the Treasury, etc.), so you can always expect to have the most up-to-date results. Please note that the source lists TINCheck accesses may change without notice as official entities that manage them update, consolidate, or relocate their systems.

Does TINCheck provide bulk file TIN/Name matching?

Yes, TINCheck offers bulk TIN/Name validation on files. For more information, visit our TINCheck Bulk Services Page.

Can TIN/EIN checks be automated in my back-office system?

Yes, TINCheck offers all of our validations as Web Services that allow you to build the routines directly into your current AP systems. Visit our TINCheck API page for more information.

What are all of the validations that are included with TINCheck?

TINCheck offers validations with over 30 valuable verification lists and databases. A complete list of all the supported verification lists can be found here on the List Page.

Are you part of the IRS or other government agency?

No, we are a private organization that provides tax compliance and regulatory reporting services to help our customers simplify compliance processes. We do, however, work closely with the IRS and state regulators to ensure our products and services are complaint, accurate and available.

How does TINCheck secure my data?

TINCheck relies on multiple layers of security to ensure all data is processed securely. All internet traffic to and from TINCheck is secured using 128bit TLS/SSL encryption. The same security used by financial intuitions to secure online banking transactions. TINCheck servers are located in a state-of-the-art, fully redundant, 24×7 on-site secured and monitored datacenters used by Fortune 500 companies and government organizations. Our datacenters are Service Organization Controls 1 (SOC 1) certified, under both the SSAE 16 and the ISAE 3402 professional standards. In addition, our datacenters are ISO 27001 certified and have been successfully validated as a Level-1 service provider under the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard (DSS). For additional security, TINs are temporally stored 256-bit AES encrypted in order detect and prevent system fraud. TINCheck also supports using two-factor authentication for user login. Can I add additional security to my TINCheck account using two-factor authentication?

Are you affiliated with any other companies?

Yes, the TINCheck service is affiliated with Sovos a market leader in tax compliance and information reporting products and services.

How much does TINCheck cost?

TINCheck offers both prepaid and monthly plans. Monthly plans start at $24.95 per month. We offer volume-based pricing discounts and have plans to fit virtually any volume of checks. You can view our most popular plans on our Pricing Page.

Is a monthly recurring plan or a prepaid plan right for me?

If you have a relatively predictable number of monthly checks, a monthly recurring plan is probably the right fit for you. If your monthly volume of checks fluctuates significantly from month to month, a prepaid plan may be a better fit.

If I have overages, how do I upgrade to another plan?

Customers will be able to manage their plan within TINCheck once logged in to move between tiers on a monthly plan. It is not currently possible to change from a prepaid to monthly or from monthly to prepaid. If you have questions about changing your plan, please contact support.

Can I sign up for a monthly or prepaid plan for more than 5,000 checks?

Yes, if you need a higher volume of checks, let’s connect to talk about a custom plan that fits your organization’s needs.

Can I combine plans?

No – you cannot combine plans. If you choose to change your plan, your account will default to the most recent selection. If you are looking for larger volume pricing or custom pricing, fill out this form, and we will contact you to discuss options.

Can I get a refund if the total volume of purchases I make during a year would qualify for the lower price from a higher volume tier?

No – pricing is associated with the plan quantity purchased at the time, and overall TINCheck volume from multiple plan purchases cannot be combined over time for volume discounts. Contact us if you need to upgrade your plan for the best pricing.

What verifications are included in the real-time monthly or prepaid plans?

All checks listed on the Verification List page are included in the pricing for real-time plans.

What are the advantages of a prepaid plan?

Prepaid Check plans provide maximum flexibility if you are unsure of your monthly/annual check volume or have volume that fluctuates from month to month. Prepaid plan checks are valid for a year from the date of purchase so you can purchase the plan quantity for whatever period makes sense and simply purchase more when you run out. Prepaid plans also offer the advantage of a lower price per check. If you still have questions, reach out to our sales team, and we can discuss which plan is the best fit for your company.

Can I have multiple users with our plan?

Yes – All plans include unlimited users.

How do you perform IRS TIN matching?

To use our service to perform IRS TIN matching, we will ask you to declare us as one of your ‘Authorized Agents’ to perform this function on your behalf. This authorization happens as part of the acceptance of the End User License Agreement and allows you to begin using the service right away without spending weeks to apply for and activate an IRS eServices account.

What happens if the IRS system is down? How reliable is the service?

TINCheck delivers reliable, timely results when you need them. In addition to the real-time interface with the IRS and other databases, TINCheck maintains the largest, most current cached database of over 20 million records that is refreshed every 30 days. This ensures the service delivers accurate “always on” results even if the IRS service is down.

Will the TINCheck API work with my back-office system?

The TINCheck API is designed to integrate effortlessly into any back-office system, requiring minimal development. Once embedded, TINCheck automates real-time TIN verification within your existing workflows – no complex infrastructure changes needed.

Can I use TINCheck to look up a company EIN with a name and address?

No. The IRS TIN/Name matching service does not provide a Tax ID number with a name and address.
